BEND, Ore. -- Jefferson County Sheriff Jim Adkins says a Madras man has been charged with murder and manslaughter in the death of his friend's brother during a rabbit hunting trip.
The shooting happened Sunday near the Crooked River National Grassland south of Madras.
Adkins says the alleged shooter, 24-year-old Montana Silk Marlett, fled after the shooting and deputies tracked him down at Boyce Corral, a nearby site where locals ride horses and hold dog trials. Marlett was unarmed when deputies found him.
Adkins told KTVZ-TV that a pistol and shotgun were recovered at the scene.
The victim has been identified as 19-year-old Devon Moschetti.
