PORTLAND -- MAX service in downtown Portland has been restored after a power outage halted some train service during the busy morning commute Tuesday.
As of 9:30 a.m., the Blue and Red MAX lines were back in action. They were the last to be restored.
The initial outage impacted two light rail substations. TriMet officials said they believe a recycling truck may have come in contact with overhead MAX lines sometime early Tuesday, causing the outage.
Earlier in the morning, TriMet officials said shuttle buses had replaced all Blue and Red MAX line trains through downtown, due to the power failure. The shuttles were operating between PGE Park and the Rose Quarter, stopping at all stations running east/west through downtown. But as of 9:30 a.m., the trains were back in service and the shuttle buses were no longer needed.
Green and Yellow line trains were restored earlier in the morning, but TriMet officials said riders should expect delays. Yellow Line trains were running out of the Portland Transit Mall and also between the Expo Center and Rose Quarter and then traveling east as a Green Line train to Clackamas Town Center.
