PORTLAND -- Ten percent of the profit at Bamboo Sushi restaurant will go this week towards efforts to ban plastic bags.
The restaurant's brand signature is a menu that features certified sustainable food.
"With 67 percent of seafood in the United States being consumed in restaurants," said owner Kristofor Lofgren, "we believe it is imperative to create a restaurant where people can get the freshest and best fish possible, while simultaneously helping to save the oceans and marine life."
Under consideration by the 2011 Oregon legislature will be a ban on plastic bags in grocery stores.
Bamboo Sushi's donation will go to the Portland chapter of the Surfrider Foundation, which is lobbying to ban plastic bags.
