VANCOUVER -- A fire ripped through an apartment building and sent one woman to the hospital with critical burns in Vancouver early Sunday morning.

Relatives told KGW she has died.

Firefighters said the fire started in a ground floor unit just after 1 a.m. on East 16th Street.

The woman who lived in the apartment suffered burns all over her body.

Two police officers who responded pulled her from the home just before firefighters arrived.

The woman was rushed to the hospital. No one else was injured but nine people are without homes.
