PORTLAND – Authorities located a missing 1-year-old boy who requires medication every two hours because of a condition, police said.
Aracele Helms, the boy's 15-year-old mother, was still missing and is considered a runaway by police. Friends of Helms called police and turned the child over to medical personnel, said Sgt. Pete Simpson with the Portland Police Bureau.
Helms and her son Danniel Helms went missing Friday after being seen last at Oregon Health & Sciences University Waterfront Facility around 3 p.m., Simpson said.
Police said Aracele frequently uses Tri-Met and is familiar with both downtown Portland and Gresham.
Aracele is Hispanic, 5-foot-3 and 220 pounds.
Danniel suffers from several serious medical conditions and authorities were concerned that he was without his medication.
