The Portland Police Bureau responded Thursday to reports about an off-duty officer who allegedly ignored a citizen's request for help.
KGW reported last week that Rob Anderson said he walked into Central Drugs, at Southwest 4th Avenue and Alder Street and saw a robbery in progress. When he flagged down an officer, Anderson says the officer told him was off-duty and to call 9-1-1 instead.
In a statement released Thursday, the chief of the police said: "When a community member asks for our help, especially in dangerous situations, I expect Portland police officers to do all they can to help."
According to the Police Bureau, the officer has come forward, and an internal investigation is underway.
