PORTLAND – Two transgender women told police a man yelled anti-gay slurs and then assaulted them with a belt buckle at 2nd and Burnside Tuesday night.
The victims said a man approached them on the sidewalk and began yelling profanities. They said after that, he pulled off his belt and started swinging his large metal buckle at them.
Police responded just after 9 p.m.on reports of the attack.
Suspect Reginald McGhee then ran from police and was pursued on foot, eventually caught a few blocks away at Northwest Naito Boulevard and Couch Street, according to Lt. Robert King with the Portland Police Bureau.
Victim Mya Rose Wolf-Black, 30, suffered minor injuries on one of her arms, King said. Jacqueline Adams, 23, escaped without injuries.
McGhee was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on assault and intimidation charges.
