PORTLAND -- It may not be Kentucky, but the warm weather Saturday is sure to make for good time on Derby Day in Portland.
If you are dying to dress up, place a few bets and maybe even down a mint julep or two, fear not, there will be plenty of places to catch the 139th Run for the Roses.
Churchill Downs it is not, but Portland Meadows will be putting on quite a show Saturday. Doors open at 7 a.m. with post time for the first races in Kentucky starting at 7:30 a.m. So, if you are going to make it a day of betting, show up early, stake out your spot and get ready to pour over your Daily Racing Form.

Even if betting is not your thing, there will be plenty to do. There is a ladies hat contest, cornhole toss, live music and cigars. You can also learn to bet like a pro by visiting a designated area where staff will explain the program and show you how to wager.
Kids are also welcome but must be supervised.
The Derby is set to go off at 3:24 p.m., so where ever you are just don’t forget your hat.
