EVERETT, Wash. – Cats, dogs and birds were rescued from a puppy mill in Everett, Wash. Tuesday.

The owner died of a heart attack several days earlier, forcing the animals to fend for themselves, police said.

Animal control officers found the animals locked inside the home.

A Humane Society spokesperson said all of the animals appeared to be in good health and will be available for adoption soon.
