PORTLAND -- Cat lovers know that Persian cats are in high demand and the Oregon Humane Society now has ten to adopt.
The animals cost anywhere from a few hundred to over $1,000 and are rarely seen in animal shelters.
A breeder turned the cats over to the Humane Society because they were too much to take care of, the agency said. The felines are between two and 15 years old and have names like Paulette, Rags and Tortes. They have all their vaccinations and microchip ID
A small crowd gathered Wednesday when the cats came up for adoption.
Each cat has a profile posted at the Humane Society website.
