PORTLAND --  Portland Police identified a pedestrian  killed Monday in Southeast Portland as Wiliam Lee Jones, 62.

The accident was around 8:30pm at Southeast 156th Avenue and Division Street.

Responding medics and firefighters could not revive Jones pronounced him dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle, Daniel Aubuchon, 47, stayed on scene and was cooperating with police.

Division was closed at 156th during the death investigation. There is a crosswalk at that intersection, but the driver told police Jones was not in the crosswalk.

Residents in the area told KGW news the intersection is dangerous. There's a crosswalk, but no signal to get drivers attention. They say frequently a driver in one lane of the four-lane road will stop, but others will drive right past the stopped car, endangering pedestrians using the crosswalk.
