ALOHA, Ore. -- A man died after getting hit by a truck while trying to cross SW Tualatin Valley Highway in Aloha Wednesday night, police said.
Investigators said it happened just after 9 p.m. at the intersection of SW Tualatin Valley (TV) Highway and SW 209th Avenue.
Gabriel Juhani Karkkainen, 33, of Aloha, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said he may have been walking toward a Christmas tree lot, where one of his friends was working.
Karkkainen was wearing dark clothing, according to investigators, and the driver did not see him walking into the street. He was not in a marked crosswalk, either.
Deputies closed TV highway so a Washington County Crash Analysis Reconstruction Team could investigate. The driver of the pickup truck remained at the scene and was not cited.
