PORTLAND – Auburn fans will be turning Portland's Morrison Bridge orange and blue before the much-anticipated Bowl Championship Series Championship.

Some may say it's a slap in the face of the city - but it's perfectly legal.

All the Auburn fans had to do was pay a fee to the Willamette Light Brigade, a local non-profit organization, and now the bridge will glow in Auburn colors from Saturday night through Monday night.

If it helps ease the Oregon Ducks' anguish, all the money will go to a good cause. The Willamette Light Brigade was created in 2007 and dedicated to adding energy-efficient architectural lights to Portland’s Willamette River bridges. The LED lights reduced energy use 600%, extended fixture life from 12,500 hours to 100,000 hours, reduced maintenance costs, and are powered by renewable energy, project organizers said.

Last month, the Beaver Alumni Association paid to turn the bridge orange during the Civil War.

But if that was any reflection of what's to come, the Beavers lost the Oregon rivalry, leaving Duck fans with a special glow of their own.

It was that Civil War victory that paved the final stone in the Ducks' path to Monday's BCS Championship.
