PORTLAND, Ore. -- The original Flight for Freedom" organizers announced Monday they want hundreds of Oregonians back together again to head to New York in remembrance of the September 11 terrorist attacks.

Organizers Sho Dozozno, Jack McGowan and commissioner Nick Fish said nearly 1,000 Oregonians went in 2001.

The show of support helped draw national attention to the needs of New York. The travelers wore "Oregon Loves NY" buttons and shirts, marched in the Columbus Day Parade and rang the opening bell of the New York Stock Exchange.

The group also visited firehouses that first responded to the attacks.

The flight will head out September 8.
