SALEM, Ore. (AP) — More than 3,100 Oregonians received an average of nearly $64,000 in housing debt relief from five major mortgage servers.
The total amount received between March and September as part of a national settlement was nearly $200 million.
The Statesman Journal reports (http://is.gd/LPyM7J) a majority of the relief came from the forgiveness of first or second mortgage balances to complete short sales.
The figures were in a report released Monday from the Office of Mortgage Settlement Oversight.
