MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) -- Medford police say a 9-week-old infant is in critical condition and her father has been jailed for investigation of assault and criminal mischief.
Police say 18-yera-old Tyler Alexander Jackson was arrested hours after an emergency call was received late Sunday from a Medford home that the baby had stopped breathing.
Officers say the baby began breathing while being taken to an ambulance. The child was treated at Rogue Valley Medical Center before being transferred to Doernbecher's Children's Hospital in Portland, where police say she is in critical condition with head and internal injuries.
Jackson remained jailed Tuesday with bail set at more than $1 million.
