SALEM – Elections officials will begin mailing out ballots to Oregonians Friday, for the May primary - all 404,000 of them.

The primary election will be held on May 18.

Voters’ pamphlets were already mailed to voters in mid-April. They can also be obtained online, on the State Elections Website.

Registered voters should receive their ballots by May 6. If not, they were urged to call the Multnomah County Elections Division at (503) 988-3720.

Anyone who failed to register to vote before April 27 will not get a ballot for the May 18 primary.

Primaries will be held this year for each of Oregon's five Congressional seats, one U.S. Senate seat, state governor, state treasurer, all of the seats in the Oregon State House of Representatives, and one half of the Oregon State Senate. There were also various elected judgeships on the ballot, along with two ballot measures, said Don Hamilton, a spokesperson for Secretary of State Kate Brown.

Brown's office said that 292 candidates had filed for federal and state office. There were also a number of county, city and local elections, and candidates, on the primary ballots.

Voters can mail their completed ballots back to the elections office with one first class stamp or drop them off at any official drop site until 8:00 p.m. on the day of the election.
