PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) -- An Oregon assistant attorney general who pleaded guilty to assault last month has resigned.
Susan Gerber has not returned to work since she was arrested on Feb. 13. A spokesman for Oregon Attorney General John Kroger says her resignation is effective April 1.
Gerber pleaded guilty on March 5 to attempted fourth-degree assault and was allowed to enter a deferred sentencing program. If she attends anger-management classes and follows other court orders, the case against her for punching and strangling her longtime partner will be dismissed.
