OREGON CITY, Ore. – A man who tried to help out after witnessing a crash in Oregon City said one of the drivers turned on him.

The crash happened near the intersection of Highway 213 and Beaver Creek when Kelly Lewallen's SUV hit a pickup truck, causing major damage, according to police.

James Ferguson said he saw the crash and got out of his car to take down Lewallen's license plate. He said that’s when Lewallen suddenly punched him in the face, put him in a headlock and choked him.

“There was so much anger in his eyes it was just scary,” Lewallen told KGW.

Emergency crews eventually separated the two. Lewallen was taken to the Clackamas County Jail on an assault charge and Ferguson was treated for his injuries.
