PORTLAND, Ore. -- A police dog sniffed out a stash of 46,000 Ecstasy pills in a pickup truck during a traffic stop to help officers make one of the largest seizures of the drug in the history of the Portland Police Bureau.
Police said the pickup was stopped on Interstate 5 about 12:15 a.m. Thursday and officers called for assistance from the canine detective, named "Nico."
The dog found the pills hidden in a large truck box located in the bed of the pickup.
The pills were estimated to be worth between $650,000 and $700,000.
Suspects Steven M Jeter, 34 and James Joshua Thompson, 39, were arrested and booked in the Multnomah County Detention Center, police said.

More idiots getting pulled over for minor traffic violations when transporting drugs. But hey, if they were smart they wouldn’t be transporting drugs in the first place! =^)

Yeah! Maybe other associated crimes will be reduced until the next flux of some self-serving drug comes along.

NOT MEXICANS! And yes, if you're transporting enough X to send you to prison for 10-20 years, consider going the speed limit.. signalling... making sure all your lights function properly, etc etc. Good thinkg it wasn't meth, huh Gresham?

The canine "officer" was summoned because??? In addition to driving according to the law, drug distributors are wise not to have a "suspicious-looking demeanor" about them, too. Try to look like a person who has a job and doesn't use illegal drugs, for starters. And don't be nervous!

How about attempted murder charges (depraved indifference to Human Life) for every pill. With consecutive sentences of 10 years, that would get these filth 460,000 years each. Should be at hard labor forcing them to pay for their own incarceration.
