OREGON CITY, Ore. -- A woman was able to stop an attacker in Oregon City by pointing a gun at him Sunday night, police said.
The woman had gotten out of her car near 8th Street and JQ Adams Street just after 10 p.m. when a man approached from behind and dragged her backwards by her ponytail, said Oregon City Police Sgt. Matthew Paschall.
"He continued to assault her until she was able to defend herself by producing her legally-owned handgun," Paschall said. "The victim pointed her handgun at the male assailant and he fled on foot."
Police searched the area with the help of a K-9 officer, but did not find the suspect. He was described as white, in his late 20s, about 5-foot-8, with a slender build (sketch above). He had medium-length hair and no facial hair. He was wearing a brown jacket and dark pants.
Anyone who might have seen the suspect or witnessed the attack was asked to call (503) 496-1616.
