CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) -- An Oregon State University wrestler who failed to follow a diversion program after pleading guilty to disorderly conduct last summer has been sentenced to probation.
Michael Mangrum had agreed to a diversion program offered by the district attorney's office, in which he was supposed to do community service, pay fees and undergo an alcohol evaluation.
The DA's office says Mangrum didn't complete any of the terms, and asked Benton County Judge Locke Williams to put him in a jail. But the judge sentenced Mangrum to a year of probation and 100 hours of community service.
Authorities say Mangrum and a former OSU wrestler were arrested last May after Mangrum made inflammatory comments that sparked a fight with bicyclists.
