RHODODENDRON, Ore. -- Troopers on Friday identified a woman found dead along Hwy 26 in Rhododendron the night before.
Bridget Maureen McGowan, a 52-year-old woman who also used the surname Sherbahn, was found dead about 9:15 p.m. Thursday near mile post 44 on Hwy 26.
It was initially reported that a person called 9-1-1 to report seeing McGowan fall from a moving pickup truck, and then get run over, but police would not confirm those details.
An autopsy performed Friday showed that McGowan died from injuries "consistent with injuries sustained from being run over by a vehicle," according to the Oregon State Medical Examiner's office.
A trooper spotted a white 1996 Dodge pickup truck with a camper that matched the description offered by the 9-1-1 caller. Police identified the driver as the 22-year-old daughter to McGowan.
Police did not release the girl's name but added that her 21-year-old boyfriend also was in the truck at the time they were pulled over, about 15 miles from where McGowan's body was located.
According to Oregon State Police Lt. Greg Hastings, the couple had been living in California but were now living out of the truck's camper.
The 9-1-1 caller told police that McGowan and her daughter were arguing earlier in the evening.
