PORTLAND -- PORTLAND -- Friends of Portland Chinatown hosted a celebration downtown Saturday to honor the "Year of the Rabbit."
The celebration also honored the 25th anniversary of the Chinatown Gate. Built in 1986, the gate cost more than $250,000.
“We are very honored to have elders who grew up in Chinatown” with us, said Ivy Lin, of Friends of Portland Chinatown, “who were also instrumental in building the gate.”
The group called it one of the few remaining symbols of the area’s history.
SW 4th Avenue was closed during the celebration so visitors could pose for photos near the gate.
