OREGON CITY, Ore. – A man in his pajamas fired a handgun into the street in front of his home in Oregon City Wednesday, scaring neighbors who called 911, police said.

Officers in special SWAT gear responded to the 15000 block of S Hill Valley Lane in unincorporated Clackamas County.

A short standoff ensued with 64-year-old suspect Grant Brough and a section of South Maplelane Road was closed as a precaution.

A hostage negotiations team was able to make contact with Brough and he surrendered without incident, according to Sgt. Adam Phillips with the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office.

Brough faces charges of reckless endangering. He did tell investigators why he fired the shots, Phillips said.
