HILLSBORO – Police seized three-and-a-half pounds of meth, along with cash and a gun after pulling over a man in Hillsboro Thursday morning.
Narcotics police pulled over 26-year-old Gerardo Barriga-Avalos (right) and found two pounds of meth in his car.
A subsequent search of a storage unit and home in Hillsboro turned up another pound-and-a-half of meth, $14,000 in cash and a Glock handgun, said Sgt. David Thompson with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
Barriga-Avalos was arrested after he was pulled over, and another suspect, Manuel Avalos-Pina, 28, (left) was arrested at the residence, Thompson said.
Both men were taken to the Washington County Jail and charged with possession and distribution of a controlled substance.
They are held on $500,000 bail. Police estimate the drugs to be worth more than $30,000.
