PORTLAND -- A man found by police hiding out on a rooftop following a shooting last year was sentenced to 25 years in prison Monday.

Rico Carlos Newman pleaded guilty to attempted murder, robbery, and assault, among other charges, in a Multnomah County courtroom.

The April 2012 incident near Northwest 26th Avenue & Upshur Street prompted a reverse-911 call to neighbors and involved agents from the Portland Police Bureau's Special Emergency Reaction Team (SERT).  He was eventually arrested and detained from the roof of the Thurman Market.
