PORTLAND – A motorcycle and a pickup truck crashed in the Eastmoreland neighborhood Thursday, causing a major traffic backup during the morning commute.
The crash occurred just after 7 a.m., in the northbound lanes of SE McLoughlin Boulevard at Tacoma Street.

The motorcycle rider, John Fannett, 59, of Milwaukie, was conscious and alert at the scene. He was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
The driver of the truck, identified as Krist Tomas Sandness, 37, of Milwaukie, was not seriously injured. He remained at the scene and was cooperating with investigators, according to Sgt. Pete Simpson with the Portland Police Bureau.
Investigators believe Sandness was speeding at about 80 miles an hour when the collision occurred. he was later cited for careless driving.
The crash created a backup along the northbound lanes of McLoughlin Boulevard during the morning commute.
