PORTLAND -- A motorcycle crashed on Interstate 205 early Thursday morning after a trooper clocked it going more than 130 miles an hour, investigators said.
The motorcycle crashed just before 2 a.m. in the northbound lanes of I-205, at the Stark Street overpass.
Toby Olsen, 52, was taken to a Portland hospital with life-threatening injuries. He was listed in critical condition at last report.
An Oregon State Patrol trooper said the motorcycle passed him before the crash and and rapidly increased his speed. The trooper lost sight of the motorcycle and there was no pursuit.
The motorcycle eventually rear-ended an SUV. The SUV driver, later identified as 78-year-old Amelia Alvarez, was checked by paramedics but not did go to the hospital.
Investigators believe both speed and alcohol are factors in this crash.
All lanes of I-205 were closed during the investigation but re-opened before the busy morning commute.
