MOLALLA, Ore. -- A Molalla police officer has been placed on leave and will make a court appearance next week on several charges, including misconduct.
On Monday, the Clackamas County District Attorney's Office filed three misdemeanor charges against James Barnhart: conspiracy to commit, failure to report as a registered sex offender; false swearing, and official misconduct.
Molalla Police Chief Rod Lucich said the charges stem from an incident several years ago in which Barnhart was working as a police officer. Lucich wouldn't go into greater detail, but confirmed that Barnhart had been placed on administrative leave.
Barnhart was scheduled to face a judge on October 23.
