To Whom It May Concern:

It comes with great sadness that I announce the tragic passing of one
of our Cardinal Alumni, Class of 2003.  Sydney Meryl Coleman was 24
years old when a Trimet Max train struck her on February 26th, 2010.
Sydney was a single mother who leaves behind her 1-year-old son Elliott
James Coleman.

The week before her passing, Sydney was able to walk the
halls of the Lincoln one last time, the school she loved so much. Sydney
was always proud to be a Lincoln Cardinal and a legacy, as her
great-grandfather graduated from Lincoln in 1892.  She was very proud to
carry on a family tradition. Sydney also attended Ainsworth Elementary
and West Sylvan Middle Schools.  Sydney was delightful, happy, giving,
talented, beautiful, brilliant and treasured. She had many friends. She
was on the ski team. Sydney cherished both the family she was born in to
by blood and the family she was born in to by being a Lincoln cardinal
legacy. Sydney loved helping people and shared her knowledge and
perspective willingly and graciously. She had many talents and gifts
whether it was painting or photography, she had the artistic touch.

Lincoln is and always will be a very tight and close
community.  Whether you are a current student, alumni, parent of a
current or former student, teacher, custodian, hall monitor, counselor,
secretary, or however you are connected to Lincoln; you have known that
you were part of a special family.  A family who is there for one
another in times of great happiness and sadness.  A family who steps up
to the plate in a time of need.  A family who makes sure that their own
is taken care of.  Elliott James Coleman was born into our Lincoln
family as was his mother Sydney whose smile and voice he will not
remember.

Please join the Lincoln Class of 2003 to ensure that he has
the bright future that we were so blessed and privileged to have. In
memory of his mother, a fund has been established in the name of
“Elliott James Coleman Fund” at Wells Fargo Banks. Donations can be
made to any Wells Fargo teller or ATM. You may also transfer funds from
your own Wells Fargo account directly into this account for Elliott,
Wells Fargo account #3879878639.

Any donation is greatly appreciated.  If you are unable to
donate to the fund and would like to offer a service or any type of
assistance to the family to help raise Elliott, please contact Carolyn
Myers at cmyers@pps.k12.or.us.  Again any help or donation is greatly
appreciated.

Sydney's life will be remembered on Saturday, March 6, 2010
from 3:30-5 pm with a potluck gathering at Childpeace Montessori School
where she attended preschool.  1516Northwest Thurman Street
 Portland,
OR 97209-2517.

May the Lincoln family stay strong and cherished.
