PORTLAND -- There was a small, symbolic memorial Friday in Northeast Portland for a little girl who mourners didn't even know.
They gathered to honor an infant found dead last month at a recycling plant.
As police continue their search for the mother, members of the community wanted to give the girl a proper goodbye. The organizer said it was about respect, honor and love.
“When I left there, I felt almost relieved that we had brought her full-circle from where she was found,” said Joyce Harris .
Earlier this month, the city of Portland lowered flags to half-staff to honor the infant. It's become a tradition to honor children who have died from abuse, neglect or violence.
