SALEM, Ore. -- Most state employees got a three-day weekend starting Friday in the fourth furlough.
A few state offices will remain open that maintain safety and order, or provide specific services in communities but the overwhelming majority of Oregon's government will be shut down.
The furlough is the fourth of 10 mandated by state lawmakers during the 2009 Legislature in order to trim government costs.
In addition, state employees were asked to take another four unpaid days off of their choosing.
A complete list of state closures was available on the state of Oregon website.
Four more "Furlough Fridays" were scheduled in 2010. Two were scheduled in 2011.
Check the state government website, Oregon.gov for the complete list of open and closed state offices.
