PORTLAND – A man was stabbed in Southwest Portland and then driven from the scene and dropped off at a different location Friday afternoon, police said.
Just before 4 p.m., 41-year-old Benjamin Knepper was stabbed in the 1900 block of Southwest Hume Court then he was driven to the 3800 block of Southwest Multnomah Boulevard and dropped off, said Sgt. Pete Simpson with the Portland Police Bureau.
Detectives were working to sort out what exactly happened leading up to the stabbing and why Knepper was driven from the crime scene.
Knepper was taken to the hospital and detectives were looking for a possible suspect who was described as a short white man is his 20s with a blue shirt and jeans. He was reportedly carrying a handgun and seen walking north on Southwest 19th Avenue, Simpson said.
Knepper remains at the hospital recovering from his wounds. Anyone with information about the case was asked to call police.
