PORTLAND, Ore. -- Portland police have arrested a man after a stabbing left another man injured.
A fight broke out around 10 p.m., Saturday, between two men who knew each other, according to Portland police spokesman Sgt. Greg Stewart. He said the fight escalated to one of the men being stabbed in the neck, and the suspect running off.
Stewart said it was not clear what started the fight but the suspect, identified as Christopher Cheney, 32, was captured a short time later. He was charged with 2nd-degree assault.
The stabbing occurred near the intersection of North Williams Avenue and North Weidler Street.
The victim, later identified as David Dougherty, 35, was transported to Legacy Emanuel Hospital and later released after treatment.
Neither the suspect nor the victim were from Portland, police said.
