FOREST GROVE, Ore. -- The man suspected of a murder Saturday in Dundee was captured Sunday by police after a daylong manhunt. Jonathan Hayden Williams, 31, of Forest Grove, was arrested late Sunday in Oregon City.

According to the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to 15715 S Hattan Road after receiving information from Newberg police.

The suspect, Jonathan Williams, allegedly saw the deputies and tried to flee but was immediately taken into custody. A woman who lives in the house where Williams was holed up, came out voluntarily and likely will not be charged with anything, according to police.

Williams was wanted for a deadly shooting early Saturday in Dundee.  Police say he shot and killed Timothy Craig Long before fleeing. Williams was described by police as a known meth user who owns guns

Sunday morning in Forest Grove, witnesses called police after they spotted a man jumping a fence. Police from multiple agencies built a perimeter around the downtown area but came up empty-handed.

"It was not a stranger-to-stranger contact," said Capt. Aaron Ashbaugh with the Forest Grove Police Dept. "Something caused the shooting to occur. Ever since then he has been trying to get back to Forest Grove and apparently didn't succeed this morning."

In pitch dark, during Sunday's early morning hours, police raided the Williams' home. They arrested his wife, 30-year-old Misty Mae Williams for allegedly obstructing her husband's capture.

Later Sunday morning, police tracked down a car they'd been looking for, a teal-colored Nissan with Montana license plates.

Neighbors say they saw police pull over the driver of that car with their guns drawn. "It's very scary to see people running around with guns," said neighbor Mark McDowall. "I don't like it very well. This is just a quiet little neighborhood."

Witnesses awakened by gunfire there Saturday said they saw multiple people running from the scene. Though it's unclear why the two met in Dundee, police say it was a neutral, convenient location for them.

Police say Williams is from Forest Grove. His alleged victim was from McMinnville.
