Machete used in Old Town attack

PORTLAND – Portland police were seeking help to find whoever slashed a man in Old Town with a machete Tuesday night.

Officers said the man was cut in the head in the parking lot under the west side of the Burnside Bridge. He was not seriously hurt.

The suspect was described as a white or Native American man in his 20s, 5-foot 4 inches tall, with a medium build and wearing a gray hoody and blue jeans.

He was last seen northbound on foot along Northwest 1st Avenue. Several witnesses and the victim were not cooperative, police said.
