PORTLAND – An alleged drunk driver crashed his Hummer into a support pole for the overhead MAX lines over the weekend, police said.
Just before 3 a.m. Sunday morning, 38-year-old Brian Anderson of Portland crashed at the west end of the Steel Bridge damaging a signal head and two poles on TriMet’s MAX line, said Sgt. Pete Simpson with the Portland Police Bureau.
Anderson was uninjured but officers said his blood alcohol content was more than twice the legal limit.
MAX service was restored across the Steel Bridge in both directions just after 6 a.m. Sunday.
TriMet also reopened Green and Yellow MAX lines on Southwest 5th and 6th Avenues after they were shutdown most of Sunday morning.
Anderson was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on DUII charges. He may face other charges in connection with the damaged MAX line.
