LONGVIEW, Wash. – A Longview man was ejected from his SUV and killed in a single-vehicle crash late Sunday night, police said.

Investigators believe Tytus Karametos, 19, was speeding when he crashed just before 10 p.m. in the 3200 block of Pennsylvania Street.

Karametos was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision and was ejected from the SUV. Jacob Millikan, 19, was a passenger in the vehicle and was not seriously injured. He was wearing a seat belt.

Millikan told police that the SUV was going about 65 mph in a 25 mph zone and he asked Karametos to slow down. Millikan said as they began to slow down, Karametos lost control and the SUV started to skid.

The vehicle, a 1999 Ford Escape, left the roadway and struck a tree.

Millikan was transported to St. John Hospital by ambulance and later released.

Washington State Patrol and Longview Police are investigating.
