LINCOLN CITY, Ore. -- Monday, Jan. 23rd marked exactly one year since Lincoln City police officer Steven Dodds was shot while on duty and the suspect has never been found.

Dodds was shot after he stopped a vehicle on Highway 101 for speeding. The driver, later identified as David Durham, shot him and continued shooting at bystanders as he fled the scene southbound on Highway 101.

"Officer Dodds has demonstrated remarkable resilience and courage in overcoming life-threatening injuries and has recently returned to his patrol duties," a statement from the Lincoln City Police Department said.  "His reactions that night combined with the valiant and professional efforts of his patrol sergeant, the other on-duty LCPD members, and the outstanding emergency medical personnel in Lincoln City and Portland not only saved his life but also paved the way for his recovery."

Durham was suspected of shooting at nine other people besides Officer Dodds and an extensive manhunt was conducted but Durham was never found.

Dodds suffered life-threatening injuries, but recently returned to his patrol duties.

"Officer Dodds has worked tirelessly to recover and get back on patrol, performing the duties and doing the work he loves serving the Lincoln City community," said Lt. Jerry Palmer with Lincoln City police.

Palmer said police still receive tips every month, but have no confirmed sightings of the suspect. An FBI reward has climbed to $10,000 for tips leading to Durham's arrest.

"There has not been one confirmed sighting of David Durham since January 24, 2011, when he was last seen running up the beach towards the Bay Shore subdivision in Waldport," he said.

Investigators said they were still hopeful that Durham would be located. They asked anyone who sees Durham or has information on his whereabouts to contact Lincoln City police at (541) 994-3636. Anonymous tips can also be left with the FBI or a caller's local police agency.
