Aloha, Ore. – A large fir tree was struck by lightning at a home in Aloha Sunday morning as thunderstorms moved through the Portland metro area.

Around 11:30 a.m., a thunderstorm system moved into Washington County and lightning struck the massive multi-trunked tree that fractured, with limbs damaging two homes on Southwest Hennig Court.

No one was injured but residents of one home will seek temporary housing while a tree service assesses the damage.

KGW viewers reported thunder claps around Oregon City, Portland, Beaverton and Vancouver. Doppler radar shows the system that brought lightning Sunday morning has moved into Southwest Washington.
