OREGON CITY, Ore. – A large landslide was blocking a portion of the Clackamas River Thursday, just downstream from an Oregon City park.

The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office Marine Patrol found the landslide approximately one mile downstream from Barton Park. Several trees broke loose and fell into the river.

The Marine Patrol was urging boaters to use caution while traveling near the landslide, due to heavy debris in the river. They also warned that dislodged sediment may eventually alter river channels downstream from the landslide location.

After surveying the damage, deputies said Thursday they were inclined to let Mother Nature to take her course to clear the debris.

Officials said changes in water levels may also dislodge the trees in the water, causing them to float downstream and block other river channels.
