PORTLAND — KGW.com swept the 1st-place categories for Division 1 online news in Oregon, in awards announced this week by the Associated Press.
KGW.com was honored for Best Use of Online Medium for Tornado tears through Aumsville. KGW's news website also won the award for Best Breaking News Online for Christmas Tree Lighting Car Bomb Plot. KGW.com also won the award for Best TV Web Site - Overall Excellence. It was the fifth straight year that KGW.com was named Best TV Web Site in Oregon by the Associated Press.
KGW NewsChannel 8 was also honored with five first-place awards, included Best Breaking News, Best News Writing, Best Photography, Best Light Feature and Best Sports Reporting. In total, KGW.com and KGW NewsChannel 8 earned 14 journalism awards from the Oregon Associated Press for news coverage in 2010, the most of any TV station in Portland.
