ONTARIO, Ore. -- The death Feb. 2 of an inmate at the Snake River Correctional Institution was determined to be a homicide, and the cause of death was head injuries.
The autopsy on Michael C. Hagen, 28, was performed Thursday by deputy state medical examiner Dr. Larry Lewman. Prison officials declined to provide further details on the death.
Hagen, a former Comcast worker, was in prison for beating a Southeast Portland check-cashing store worker in August 2009.

He said in trial that he grabbed a fake gun and baton for the robbery. He got scared when the victim grabbed a cellphone.
Workers from a nearby store found the victim bound and gagged and bleeding from the head. She testified in court that she has lost vision in one eye.
Hagen was arrested when Portland police pulled over two Comcast vehicles nearby.
He was convicted of attempted aggravated murder, robbery and assault and sentenced to 17 years.
