GRANTS PASS, Ore. -- Southbound lanes of I-5 just south of Ashland were reopened just after 8 p.m. Friday with chains required for all traffic except 4x4s. Lanes were closed just after 5 p.m. due to blizzard conditions.

A Winter Weather Advisory continued through Saturday at 10 a.m. for the Siskiyous and the Southern Oregon Cascades.

Travel on I-5 southbound at the Oregon-California border was snarled for most of the day Friday because of the weather. Earlier in the day, the southbound route was closed to trucks and delays of several hours were reported.

Travelers on I-5 in Southern Oregon were warned to expect winter weather conditions and delays to continue into Saturday.

I-5 near Grants Pass reopened Thursday evening after a winter storm closed a 33-mile stretch of the interstate for most of the day.

Thursday's closure of the Interstate, which began eight miles North of Grants Pass and stretched between milepost 66 and milepost 90, snarled traffic for hours and created long travel delays.
