VANCOUVER -- A young man was shot multiple times just after midnight in Vancouver in what police said might be a gang-related shooting. A suspect was arrested hours later.

Witnesses said a young man rode up on a bicycle and shot the victim several times.

Officers were dispatched just after midnight to the 2200 block of Lincoln Avenue after neighbors reported hearing gunfire, said Sgt. Kathy McNicholas.

A victim was found with gunshot wounds. He was taken to an area hospital. His condition was not available. The suspect and the victim knew each other, McNicholas said.

Witnesses said a man left the area shortly after the shooting. Neighbors were asked to remain in their homes during a search.

The suspect was thought to be inside a nearby home. Police used bullhorns to ask anyone inside to come out. No one responded and about 1:40 a.m., tactical officers were sent to the home, she said.

After a few minutes, tear gas was fired into the home. A robot was also used to determine if the home was empty.  Officers stormed into the home about 5:30 a.m. using flash bang grenades. No one was inside, McNicholas said.

Police announced around 7:30 a.m. that a man tied to the shooting was under arrest. He was taken into custody on the street at an unspecified location.

Jeremy Pina, 21, of Vancouver, was accused of attempted first-degree murder.

Anyone with information was asked to call detective Erik Zimmerman at (360) 487-7412.
