HILLSBORO, Ore --- A 17-year-old Hillsboro High School student was cited Tuesday afternoon after a threat was found on the stall in a girl's bathroom at the school.
The Hillsboro School District sent an automated message to parents and students telling them the threat warned of an explosive device. An investigation by Hillsboro police found there was no danger.
The school principal had an idea which student might be responsible for the message, said Lt. Mike Rouches of the Hillsboro Police Department. A sophomore girl was questioned by police and cited for disorderly conduct and criminal mischief. Both are misdemeanors.
She was released to her parents after reportedly telling police she wrote the message because she was mad about getting in trouble at school.
Classes were scheduled as normal Wednesday. The district told parents, "You can assume it is safe to send your child to school on Wednesday."
