PORTLAND -- People held hands across the Hawthorne Bridge in an act of solidarity Sunday night, to demonstrate against anti-gay violence.
“Hands across Hawthorne” came on the heels of an attack against two gay men last week.
Background: Police investigate beating of two gay men
Two gay men were beaten last Sunday on the Eastbank Esplanade. It’s believed to have happened after the suspects saw the victims holding hands.
Groups such as Basic Rights Oregon, Cascade Aids Project, Pride Northwest and the Q-Center came together with supporters for the demonstration Sunday night.
