GASTON, Ore. -- The suspect in a stabbing outside an apartment in Gaston surrendered to police Wednesday.

Brian O'Neel, 36, of Forest Grove, suffered serious knife wounds to his face and hands in the fight, and investigators said the suspect drove away in a pickup truck.

Police began searching for Delaney VanLoo, 38, of Gales Creek (pictured) and then he eventually turned himself in, with the assistance of an attorney he had hired.

VanLoo was booked in the Washington County jail on charges of first degree assault, and more charges were pending, according to Sgt. David Thompson of Washington County Sheriff's Office.

O'Neel was taken to Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland. His injuries were not expected to be life-threatening.
