PORTLAND -- Police recovered a loaded handgun from a 13-year-old boy and a semi-automatic handgun from 18-year-old during two separate incidents in Southeast Portland Sunday.

Just after 10 p.m. gang enforcement officers stopped 18-year-old Gregory Sonell Spencer (pictured) in the Parkrose neighborhood, near Northeast 102nd Avenue and Northeast Hancock Street, Sgt. Pete Simpson said. They found a loaded semi-automatic handgun in his backpack.

He was jailed on weapons charges.

About an hour later police conducted an unrelated traffic stop in the Mill Park neighborhood, at Southeast 117th Avenue and Southeast Washington Street. While the occupants of the car were being checked for weapons, an officer found a loaded handgun in a 13-year-old boy's waistband.

The boy was taken into custody and booked into the Donald E. Long Juvenile Detention Home. The driver of the vehicle was jailed for weapons charges. Another passenger in the vehicle was jailed on a probation violation.
